Today I changed my normal routine to attend a bread-baking session at the museum in Sedona. Four of us followed the instructor’s lead by mixing flour, yeast, baking soda and a bunch of other ingredients that would yield loaves of English muffin bread. What made it fun was that there was no need to knead! We ended up baking 9 loaves, and the whole process took less than 2 hours.

Of course, the best part was the taste-testing. Someone had left a jar of homemade apple butter in the fridge, and spread on the warm loaves, the sweet topping was just perfect. The yeasty aroma of the baking bread attracted not only the museum volunteers, but also a few visitors. All had a chance to sample, and we bakers were given two loaves to take home. Not a bad way to spend a Monday.

I took a few pictures of the museum exterior and the surrounding red rocks. Talk about beauty. This truly is God’s country!
