Wind is not a firefighter’s friend here. Eastern Arizona and western New Mexico has seen over a half million acres of land eaten by fire. A friend wrote that Los Alamos, home to a huge nuclear facility, is a ghost town. While officials try to assure people that the nuclear reactor is safe and secured, employees from the facility, high-tailing it out of town, think differently.
